The Film

The Film explores architecture through movement — translating the language of cinema into space, sequence and form.

Inspired by Marilyn Monroe’s iconic billowing dress and the continuous movement of film through a projector, the museum is conceived as a series of fluid, layered volumes. Repeating structural ribs wrap around the building like strips of film, creating a sense of motion even when the architecture remains still.

Inside, the same geometry shapes a non-linear journey through the museum. Double-height galleries, bridges, framed openings and overlapping levels allow visitors to experience exhibitions from changing perspectives rather than following a conventional sequence. Physical displays coexist with projections, immersive media and AR/VR installations, reflecting the evolution of cinema from mechanical film to digital experience.

Light becomes part of the narrative. Filtered through the repetitive exterior structure, it creates rhythm across the galleries while large openings frame the surrounding city as another moving image.

The Film is conceived not simply as a container for cinematic history, but as an architectural interpretation of cinema itself — movement, repetition, illusion and storytelling translated into space.
